Weekly Journal Sheet for the Busy Woman Seeking God's Presence

Let me start by saying I LOVE journals. I literally can’t go into TjMaxx without checking out their journal section. They have the cutest stuff! However, I love prompts instead of just blank pages when I’m doing certain things. In the past I haven’t been able to track what I’ve read or done to grow as a Christ follower, but it’s been something I’ve really wanted to do. I just couldn’t find my system.

I’m also a lover of planners. I rarely use the same planner all year. (I know. It’s so silly.) I love the idea of a page for each day, BUT if I go days without writing in it and have to flip through those blank pages it makes me feel unproductive. In my mind I wasted those days. Being in the toddler mom season of life means a lot of days that I don’t have time to complete my dream daily checksheet. Something I’m working on this year is to quit finding my worth in my productivity.

I couldn’t find a sheet with exactly what I was looking for so I decided to create one. I’m still learning how to do the tech stuff, but it was so fun because I could think about why I wanted each thing on there and the best way to use it!

If your in this super crazy busy toddlerhood season like I am (which means no routine & extreme inconsistency but a burning desire to spend time with the Lord and grow to know him more), I hope it helps you as well.

I named it the Dwell Journal Sheet because that’s what I want to do. Dwell in him and his Word. He tells us to write his word on our hearts, and he will be our God, and we will be his people. (paraphrasing Jeremiah 31:33) I placed the scripture Jeremiah 29:13 at the top because he promises, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”. I want to seek him joyfully. He is my strength and song (Psalm 118:14).

I wanted to come first with a thankful heart. It’s easy to remember to pray when things are going bad and we need him, but I want to come to him when things are good, too. He is with us not only in the valleys but on our mountains, too! He is the reason we reach the top of our mountains. I know I couldn’t do it alone. Therefore the beginning of this weekly journal allows you to come to him with a grateful heart and write down some things you want to thank him for. Seeing this throughout your week reminds you of what blessings he has bestowed on you. We don’t want to be like the Israelites and as soon as something goes wrong forget what God has done for us. (That still blows my mind and shows how great his compassion and grace truly are).

There are small sections for each day of the week. This is where you can write what you read that day, when you noticed God there with you during the day, etc. Whether you have time to sit and read 3 chapters of the bible, read one scripture from your bible app, or simply just pray and listen to worship music in your car, WRITE IT DOWN. There are many forms of praise, and he just wants to be a part of our day. That is what makes him happy. Our desire to have him live WITH us.

Scripture memory is something I have been working on, and I desire to know it more. You can use this section to write a memory verse for the week. If you don’t learn it, use the same one on the next sheet next week. The writing and repetition of reading it each day will help!

You have a prayer list section and if you’re like me, yours will grow as your week goes on. The Lord knows our needs before we even bring them to him, but writing them helps you see in the future where he showed up for you. He hears all of our prayers, and I love looking back and seeing that.

Finally, “On My Heart This Week”. You can fill this in at any point during the week. This is a special place for you to write something that you are proessing through with the Lord, a conviction, or maybe something he is bringing to your attention. This year is a year for retraining my ears to hear his voice more instead of hearing fear and doubt. I want to give God the mic! When you hear him speak or see him show up in your day recognize that and thank him for being with you. He speaks in different ways to different people so let’s make this year a year of joyfully seeking his voice however he speaks to us. I am so excited to see where we go together! Aren’t you?

I hope this sheet is a blessing to your days! If you enjoyed, please feel free to share.

Warmly, Chels
